REVIEW

 I remember reading Another Chance by Ahmed Faiyaz few years ago and I was very amazed by his writing style. So, when I got a chance to read his new book, Bestseller I wasn't able to stop myself. This is the second book which I read by the author and I really enjoyed this.

Bestseller by Ahmed Faiyaz is a very interesting tale of an out of work editor, Akshay Mathur, who is a divorcee and moved to India for a year to revive the value of Kalim, a publishing house. His task is to bring bestseller from his publishing house. For me, this was a very refreshing and a different work of fiction having a very unusual story line which gave  a very fair account of the happenings of the publishing house. What all happens in the world of publishing, the various struggles faced by the people working there, dealing with different kind of people. It gives a very clear picture of the publishing world in a sarcastic manner.

The book is an amazing and a very well written satire book written in a simple and clear language. It is a fast paced story and can be easily finished in one sitting. It has a very intriguing plot line which made me stick to my reading corner and able to finish it in a day. It is very well narrated in first person and is a very breezy read. There a lot of happenings in the book which are written in a descriptive way. Though, I felt at some points they were a bit dragged. The romance is nice and it spiced up the story. At various points it is funny and I laughed a lot while it also an eye opening book which delves into the world of publishing.

There are a lot characters in the book such as Akshay, Tarun, Zorah, Roshan Khan, Anya Malik etc. And, the character of Akshay is very well developed and the romance between Zorah and Akshay is nice and I liked it and it was very interesting to read about the love triangle. I really liked Akshay's character. He was very determined, but was not able to do work according to himself.

Overall, it is an amazing read which gives an insight into the world of publishing and is written in a sarcastic way. It is very engaging filled with twists and turns and has elements of drama, love and reality. It kept me at the edge and is an amazing page turner. I would recommend this to everyone who want to read a light sarcastic read.

Ahmed Faiyaz grew up in Bangalore and now lives in Dubai.
He’s a strategist by profession, with a number of years in management consulting behind him. He’s a book and film addict, and a passionate writer. His first book, Love, Life & All That Jazz…, published in April 2010, remains a popular bestseller across major cities. His stories are also featured in the National Bestseller, Urban Shots
