July Wrap Up






Hello everyone! 
The month of July was really very good for me or you can say that it was one of the reading months for me this year. I manged to read eight diverse titles. I really liked that I read different genres in the month of July and not  sticked to just one. I read not only Indian authors but I read quite a few foreign authors as well. So, here are the books that I read :





1. GIRL IN THE MIRROR by Cecelia Ahern

Girl In the Mirror comprises of two short stories which are quite different. I have read a lot of books by Cecelia Ahern and this one was quite different. The first story was basically unimaginable one. I was just thinking whether this can happen in reality or not. It was a dark story. While on the other hand, the other story The Memory Maker was not so interesting. It was confusing for me.
Overall, the book was an average read.





2. HERE FALLS THE SHADOW by Bhaskar Chattopadhyay

Here Falls The Shadow  is a very gripping thriller revolving around novelist Sangram Talukdar, who went to his hometown Nimdeora to be at peace when he received an anonymous death threat.At first, he dismisses it as a cruel joke. But when two of the family’s beloved dogs, guardians of the estate, are found killed with a clean, swift arrow to each of their throats, Talukdar calls in the astute detective Janardan Maity to investigate.
The plot line is very gripping and engaging with well developed characters. The writing style of the author is simple and clear. The book is full of twists and turns and I was not able to put down. Overall, it was an interesting read and I enjoyed reading it. 





3.  SURVIVORS by Anamika Mukherjee

Survivors by Anamika Mukherjee is such a different read about how the world is impacted by a nuclear accident. In a post-apocalyptic world, small settlements have formed on the outskirts of Delhi. Radiation has made the survival very difficult. The book took me on a ride with the survivors who were left in a New world in the aftermath and how they made their own alternate world. It is very gripping story of totally a different world where survivors are struggling for the basic necessities.
I really enjoyed reading this book because it made me realize a lot about the way we use the resources. Overall, a very engaging and fast paced read.





4.  THE BESTSELLER SHE WROTE by Ravi Subramanian

The Bestseller She Wrote by Ravi Subramanian is a story of Love and betrayal revolving around bestselling author, aditya kapoor and his glamour world which gets disrupted by Shreya Kaushik, a beautiful and young IIM-B student with high ambitions who aspire to become a bestselling author and takes help of Aditya. This book  didn't disappoint me. The best part about autho's books is his writing style which is so simple, lucid and it flows. The storyline is strong and very engrossing. I was able to finish it in few hours. I really enjoyed reading this.





5. SLEEP WITH THE LIGHTS ON by Maggie Shayne

Sleep With The Lights On by Maggie Shayne revolves around a successful self help writer, Rachel de Luca, whose blindness and missing brother has convinced her that positive thinking is nothing. She gets a cornea transplant but starts seeing some visions of murders. On the other hand, Detective Mason Brown's own brother died recently leaving a big secret behind.
Sleep With The Lights On by Maggie Shayne is such an interesting and engaging read. For me, reading it was a nail biting experience, I wasn't able to put it down. It was so intense and the way the suspense is crafted is amazing.A very well written, fast paced book full of surprises. I just kept guessing till the end. A frightening page turner.



6. MEET ME IN MANHATTAN by Claudia Carroll

Meet me In Manhattan made me smile a lot. It was a very refreshing read for me after reading quite serious and thrilling books, It revolves around Holly Johnson , who wants to be a journalist  and wants to fall in love. She meets a guy, Andy McCoy on an online dating site but something was not right about him for which Holly fly to New York. I enjoyed this funny and breezy modern romance a lot. It is written in a descriptive and beautiful manner. I was glued to this book till the end and I cherished it a lot .





7. T21 IN DOWNS LANE by Utpal Kant Mishra

T21 In Downs lane is an intensive narrative about parents' struggle to give birth and raise a child with Trisomy 21.It shows the perception of people  about Downs Syndrome. It is an in depth account which is emotional at various points . It is written in a lucid language and is a very insightful and meaningful book. I liked it a lot.





8. SOUTH HAVEN by Hirsh Sawhney

 South Haven by Hirsh Sawhney is a very captivating book revolving around an Indo American teenager, Siddharth who lost his mother in a car accident and his childhood comes to a halt. It is a family drama about how the family deals with the loss and each one of them in their own way. 
I found the book very interesting, insightful, sensitive and heartbreaking. There are a lot of different emotions seen in the book, it made me laugh as well as cry. A very beautifully penned down book with very well developed characters. It covers a lot of themes such as loss, love, politics and pain. I loved it.
