#BookReview: A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman is a very heartwarming read published on 7th May 2015 by Spectre. It is widely available at the online and offline bookstores. The cover page of the book is attractive and very simple having an image of a leaning man and the title is in blue and red colours and the background in subtle yellow colour.
The story revolves around a fifty-nine year old man called Ove. He's a curmudgeon, the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him the bitter neighbor from hell, but must Ove be bitter just because he doesn't walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time?
Behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove's mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul. All of which will change one cranky old man and a local residents' association to their very foundations.
It is a very heartwarming book written in a very easy and simple way.The emotions are expressed very nicely and are sudden . At one point one laughs and in other cries. The book is filled with sarcasm, humor, fun and laughter. The story goes on in present and past. All the characters are very well built especially the relation between Sonja and Ove. The story just flows like milk and a lot of scenes can be visualized. A reader feels that he is a part of the story. A very soberness in the narration of each event. A lot of lines are very heart touching and the display of true love is marvelous. Overall, a very heartwarming, hilarious, amazing and an adorable read.
I would recommend this book to everyone as each one of us wants an Ove in our lives. A must read .
