The Grownup is THE EDGAR AWARD WINNING SHORT STORY from the author of GONE GIRL GILLIAN FLYNN. It was published on December 23rd 2015 by Orion Publishing Group. It is available widely at the online and the offline bookstores. The cover page is very catchy to the eyes having smoke and black in colour. Thus, depicting that the story is a ghost, haunted one.

The Grownup is a short story about a young woman who is making her living by doing Aura reading or spiritual palm reading along with some sex work on the side. She makes a decent wage by telling people what they want to hear. Once Susan, a rich, beautiful woman walks in her office telling her about having problems in her newly shifted house. The young woman diagnosis her as unhappy, having problems with her 15 year old stepson Miles. So, Susan ropes the young aura reader for the cleaning of her house from all the supernatural powers existing in the house.

Despite, of a short story The Grownup is a very thrilling and a creepy tale full of twists. the narration of the story is terrific and is very well executed. 
Overall, it is a very thrilling and a dark story, highly recommended to those who want to read a haunted story.

The dark plot revolves around a serial killer in a Missouri town, and the reporter who has returned from Chicago to cover the event. Themes include dysfunctional families,violence and self-harm.
