COVER PAGE

The cover page of the book, Lights! Scalpel! Romance! is very refreshing. It is in bright blue colour having an image of a female and a male surgeon along with a patient which very well reflects about the hospital setting. It is a nice cover with the colours blending very well.

REVIEW

Lights! Scalpel! Romance! by Jas Kohli is a very light read for me. It was a simple and a fun book to read which I enjoyed a lot. I had a fair idea about the life of a surgeon but this book gave a new perspective to their life.

Lights! Scalpel! Romance! Is a very interesting read revolving around the doctors and the interns of the Nirog Hospital.  It takes a reader on a humorous journey, giving the lighter side of the surgeons. Nipun is a prankster and Nishta is a beauty and they both joined the MS (surgery) course under Dr. Ujjwal who is one of the best surgeons at Nirog Hospital. And, with all the hospital work Nipun tries to find his love but his efforts fail every time.

The book took me on a different journey which talked about the life of the surgeons not just in the hospital but beyond that. When I got the book I was not expecting it to be such a fun read rather thought of it as a very serious book because of the hospital setting but it came out to be a completely different read and I had a nice time reading it. The narration of the book is very engaging and it is fast paced, moving from one incident to the other and can be easily finished in few hours. I really liked the fact that each chapter holds a new event which made me engross in the book. There are a lot of events which are heard a lot in the news these days.

The book is penned down in a very simple manner. And, is the plot is very nicely packed with all the events described in a detailed manner. I really liked how the author has involved so many examples and especially highlighted the aspect of nervousness before doing the first surgery. The title of the book is very well justified as the story holds all the three aspects, not just the scalpel and the lights of the operation theatre but also the aspect of romance which remained very fresh throughout the story.I was very well able to visualize the story which made my reading experience all the more interesting.

The characterization of the story is very interesting and the kind of relation all the characters shared is very amusing. Nipun, the prankster and just makes everyone happy and is busy searching for his love and tried his luck with Nishtha who doesn’t want to be in a relation. Another important character of the story is Dr. Ujjwal, a brilliant surgeon and an alpha male at the Nirog Hospital. Some other characters are Dr. Anoop, Ayana, Ridhi, Mayur etc.

Overall, it was a very refreshing and a fun read. I had a great time reading it and enjoyed it a lot.
